    The author of PI was on NPR yesterday and I didn’t realize who he was. When they started to say he had a book out I grabbed my notepad and pen and laughed at myself when they announced it. It’s nice listening to the authors themselves on the radio.

    Also, Frank, I believe that “pastoral” image of the river was probably selected to go along with the anecdote about the length of the Mississippi river…

    Good call, Dave C. The photo is in fact, if I can believe the photographer who labeled it, a view of the Mississippi River — just a small stretch of the full 12,000 miles of it. :-)
